What Our Customers Are Saying

As Seen On

GlareCut™ Was Engineered for the Streaks Your Prescription Can't Touch
An astigmatic eye smears the harsh 445–455nm spike from LED headlights into streaks and starbursts. GlareCut™ removes that spike before it ever enters your eye.
90% of all other light passes through untouched — the road stays fully visible, lane lines stay sharp, signs stay readable. The streaks get smaller and dimmer while the road stays bright.
Most drivers feel it immediately. No adjustment period, no appointment — worn right over your prescription glasses, or on their own with contacts.

Your glasses fix where the light lands. This fixes what the light is.

The Science Behind It
Why Your Eye Exam Never Catches This
Astigmatism smears oncoming headlights into streaks and starbursts at night

About 1 in 3 people have astigmatism. It means the clear front window of your eye is not perfectly round — it is shaped slightly more like an oval. A round window bends light to a single point. An oval one cannot. So every point of light gets stretched. A headlight stops being a dot and becomes a streak.

At night, your pupil opens wide to let in more light. A wider opening uses more of that oval-shaped window — so the smearing multiplies. In the exam chair, the lights are bright and your pupil is small. Your eyes are graded under the exact conditions where astigmatism is quietest.

Meanwhile, around 2018, automakers completed a mass transition to high-intensity LED headlights — 300 to 400 percent brighter than the halogens most of us drove with for decades, with a concentrated spike at 445–455 nanometers. Blue-white light sits at the short end of the spectrum. It scatters more inside the eye and focuses worse than any other color on the road. The streaks across your windshield are mostly made of that spike.

Astigmatism also commonly shifts and increases with age, and the aging eye scatters more light internally. Your eyes changed slowly while the headlights changed fast. You were not imagining that every year got worse.

The Exam-Room Blind Spot

Your prescription is measured in a bright room with a small pupil — the one condition where astigmatism is quietest. The exam grades your correction. It never recreates a dark road, a wide-open pupil, and an oncoming LED spike.

What GlareCut™ Does

GlareCut™ is a precision-polarized amber lens engineered to filter only the 445–455nm wavelength band — the harshest component of the light an astigmatic eye smears into streaks. Remove the spike before it enters your eye, and the streaks lose their harshest ingredient. Smaller. Dimmer. While the road stays bright.

Oncoming headlights — with and without GlareCut glasses
Selective wavelength filtering — targets 445–455nm only. 90% of all other light passes through. The road stays visible. Lane lines stay sharp. Signs stay readable.
Impact-resistant polycarbonate — wide-angle field of view. Works in rain, fog, and wet-road reflection.
Fits over prescription frames — or wears on its own if you use contact lenses.
Fit & Compatibility
Works Over Glasses. Works With Contacts.

Almost everyone with astigmatism already wears correction — glasses or toric contact lenses. GlareCut™ is designed for both. It slides over your existing frames in one motion, or wears as a standalone pair if you're in contacts. Your correction keeps doing its job. GlareCut™ does the job your correction was never designed for.

GlareCut™ fits over prescription glasses

"But my prescription already corrects my astigmatism — shouldn't that be enough?" Your prescription bends light so it lands in focus, and it does that job well. Keep wearing it. But no prescription can make a headlight less bright, and none can remove the wavelength that scatters most. Correction fixes where the light lands. GlareCut™ changes what the light is.

Less Than One Co-Pay. No Prescription Required.

A single optometrist visit runs $150–$300 and will almost certainly end with another small prescription adjustment that won't touch the streaks. GlareCut™ ships to your door, fits over whatever glasses you already own, and you'll know if it works on your first drive.

Common Questions
Questions From Drivers With Astigmatism
Why is night driving so much worse than my eye exam says it should be?+

At night, your pupil opens wide to let in more light. A wider opening uses more of your eye's slightly oval-shaped front window — so the smearing that astigmatism causes multiplies. In the exam chair, the lights are bright and your pupil is small. Your eyes pass the test under the exact conditions where astigmatism is quietest.

The exam is not wrong. It is just not a dark road. Add the concentrated 445–455nm spike modern LED headlights put out — the light your eye scatters most — and you get streaks and starbursts your daytime exam can never see.

Do these correct my astigmatism?+

No — and we want to be direct about that. GlareCut™ does not change your prescription or the shape of your eye. Keep wearing your glasses or contacts; they do their job well.

What GlareCut™ does is remove the 445–455nm LED spike — the harshest component of the light your eye smears into streaks — before it ever enters your eye. The streaks get smaller and dimmer while 90% of the light still passes through, so the road stays bright. Your correction fixes where the light lands. GlareCut™ changes what the light is.

I wear toric contact lenses. Will these still help?+

Yes. If you're in contacts, GlareCut™ simply wears as a standalone pair. Your contacts correct your focus — GlareCut™ filters the wavelength that no contact lens can remove. The two do different jobs, and they work together.

I tried yellow lenses before. How is this different?+

Generic yellow-tinted glasses reduce overall brightness — including the light you need to see the road — while the specific wavelength causing the streaks still gets through. GlareCut™ is a precision-polarized lens that selectively filters only the 445–455nm band produced by LED headlights. It removes the problem wavelength without darkening your overall vision. That's the difference between dimming everything and filtering the cause.

My glasses already have anti-glare or blue-light coating. Isn't that the same thing?+

No, and it's a fair question, because coatings are what most of us are offered first. Anti-reflective coating reduces reflections bouncing off the surface of your lenses — helpful, but it does nothing to the light passing through them. Thin blue-light coatings were designed for screens, filtering a little light across a wide band.

Neither was built for a concentrated 445–455nm spike at headlight intensity. GlareCut™ blocks that specific band at full strength while letting 90% of everything else through. A coating takes the edge off a reflection. This removes the ingredient the streaks are made of.

Why has night driving gotten worse every year, even though my prescription barely changes?+

Two slow-moving lines crossed. Astigmatism commonly shifts and increases with age, and the aging eye scatters more light internally — that part is normal. At the same time, around 2018, automakers completed a mass switch to LED headlights that are 300 to 400 percent brighter than the halogens most of us drove with for decades, with a concentrated blue-white spike at 445–455nm.

Your eyes changed slowly. The headlights changed fast. You were not imagining it — every year really was worse.

Will these fit over my prescription glasses?+

Yes. GlareCut™ is a universal fit-over frame — 150mm wide — designed to sit comfortably over all prescription glasses including bifocals, progressives, larger frames, and wraparound styles. One motion, on or off.

I've also had cataract surgery. Which applies to me?+

Both can apply, and they compound. Your natural lens carried a faint tint that absorbed some of the blue spectrum. If surgery replaced it with an optically clear IOL, that passive filtration is gone — and your astigmatism then smears the extra light that gets through into streaks. GlareCut™ addresses the shared root: it removes the 445–455nm spike externally, before it reaches your eye, whichever combination you have.

How quickly will I notice a difference?+

Most drivers notice the difference on their first night drive. The moment an oncoming headlight stays a contained point of light instead of stretching into a streak across your windshield — you'll know. There's no adjustment period, and rain is a fair test: wet roads are where the streaks are usually worst. Our 30-night guarantee means you find out with no risk.

What if they don't work for me?+

You're covered by our 30-Day No-Questions Guarantee. Try them for 30 full nights. If you're not satisfied, email support@glarecutvision.com for a full refund. No phone calls, no return forms, no hassle.
